Prof. Sylvain Moineau

Professor of Microbiology, Université Laval (Québec city, Canada)

Professor Moineau is based in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Bioinformatics at Université Laval and holds the Canada Research Chair in Bacteriophages. He curates the world’s largest collection of phages. His group aims at understanding phage-bacteria interactions, including his landmark discoveries on CRISPR-Cas systems. He has been ranked amongst the most cited microbiologists in the world for the past four years. In 2017, he was awarded the NSERC John Polanyi Award, Canadian Society of Microbiologists Murray Award for Career Achievement, DuPont Excellence Medal and was elected in the Academy of Sciences of the Royal Society of Canada.
